My "Etsy Seller" Resolutions for 2013

For 2013, I vow to no longer be surprised if:

- buyers do not leave feedback

- one of my items gets "favorited" 24 times in one   day

- people have been members of etsy for years without making a single purchase

- the item that got 24 favorites in one day has not sold yet

- other etsy shop owners whose work I feature in treasuries do not comment, click or help promote those treasuries

- potential etsy customers with whom I spend a lot of time "convoing" about custom orders never let me know what their final decision is

I know that there are valid explanations for all of these "behaviors"and that I am only seeing it from my perspective, which is why I say that I will no longer be surprised by them. I gave up the anger a long time ago. :)

Etsy sellers, feel free to add to the list! Leave a comment and, who knows, maybe it will help you get past the disappointment.

  1. To list what I love, with enthusiasm, even if no one else seems to like it as much as I do.

  2. I'm glad (or sad) to hear I'm not the only one who struggles not to take those things personally. I even had a treasury recently make the front page of Etsy, and several of the featured sellers didn't even comment. It did get my shop a lot of attention, but like you said, the item that got 24 favorites in one day did not sell. Anyway, stay true, to yourself and your art! <3

  3. Refreshing perspective! I actually identify myself with many of your thoughts... I can try not to be surprised, but I still can't avoid the disappointment, I guess!
    Happy New Year :)

  4. Great post. I get disappointed too, but I think if I lower my expectations, that will help. Then, maybe I can be pleasantly surprised when I get an order.

  6. ha ha Suzanne, so funny! yeah I have been there, felt that, but I let go a while ago and it was such a relief! Now I actually puff with pride when hardly anyone visits my treasuries or even rarer, leaves a comment! and I have no idea how many favs an item gets, I just never look anymore, far too busy doing things I love - like what TheOldBarnDoor is doing :) great advice!

  8. I couldn't have said it better myself. Also, remember that Karma can be your best friend. If you are patient, she will work her magic on your behalf. Far-shtay?
